Sarasota County to Open Applications for Housing Assistance Programs Sept. 1
Sarasota County will begin accepting applications on Sept. 1 for two housing assistance programs funded through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program, the county government announced.
The Home Purchase Assistance program provides 0% interest forgivable loans of up to $75,000 to eligible low-income first-time homebuyers who have been approved by a mortgage lender. Under the program, lenders apply on behalf of the homebuyer.
The Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation program offers 0% interest forgivable loans of up to $100,000 to eligible low-income homeowners for necessary home repairs, maintenance and accessibility modifications. Cosmetic renovations are not covered under the program.
