Sewage Spill Reported on Clark Road After Broken Valve

Sarasota County Utilities staff responded to a report of a leaking air release valve at 3357 Clark Road on the morning of the incident. Upon arrival, crew members confirmed that a broken valve was the source of the spill.

Approximately 350 gallons of sewage spilled from the broken valve. Staff recovered roughly 500 gallons of a combination of sewage and stormwater from the site. According to the county, stormwater structures in the area were affected, but no waterways were impacted.

County officials stated that no water sampling is required as a result of the spill. Cleanup efforts are underway following standard protocol, and the damaged air release valve has been scheduled for full replacement.
