Obituary for Robert J Purser
June 8, 1945 - April 10, 2026

Bob Purser Robert Joseph Purser (Bob) of Sarasota Florida, formerly of Jamestown New York passed away on April 10, 2026. Bob was born in Jamestown on June 8, 1945 to Mary Ann Purser (Russo), and Pryor Robert Purser. Bob is survived by his partner and loving wife of 24 years, Lynda Hill. He is also survived by his daughter, Sarah Purser, his sons in law Marco Bojorquez and Joshua Hill, daughter in law Jessica Francis, and grandchildren Felix, Noah, and Madeline. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his beloved son Robbie, who passed March 27, 2020. Bob attended Jamestown Public schools, graduating from Jamestown High School, Class of 1963 with a NY State Regents scholarship. He went on to graduate from SUNY at Buffalo with a BS Social Welfare degree after completing a tour of duty in South Viet Nam as a Marine Engineer. Bob spent most of his working years in the financial services industry. He worked for several Fortune 500 companies including The Travelers, Merrill Lynch and the local firm of Bodell, Overcash and Anderson. Bob’s favorite times, except when playing with his Grandchildren, were spent lazily drifting on his beautiful Lake Chautauqua with friends. Bob also liked all kinds of nature and spent many hours hiking around the trails of Myakka Park near Sarasota Florida. In the winter, downhill and cross country skiing were his preferred pastimes. In the summer riding around the lakes and reservoirs of this beautiful area in one of his cars or motorcycles made him happy. More recently, Bob and Lynda, his favorite navigator, enjoyed traveling the country, often with their dog Dash. Bob missed his friends very much when he left the area in 2000. He could never replace his Old Friends. Services will not be observed per Bob’s wishes. Any donations can be made in his name to The Chautauqua Lake Association.
