Woodland Middle School Math Teacher Highlighted in District Series

Nicole Miller, an accelerated math teacher at Woodland Middle School in Sarasota, was featured as part of the Sarasota County Schools' recurring Teacher Tuesday series, which profiles educators across the district.

Miller, who was born in Indiana and raised in Punta Gorda, Florida, teaches accelerated math with a focus on puzzles, patterns, and problem-solving. She has described her approach as treating math problems as logical challenges for students.

Miller has cited her mother as her greatest supporter and inspiration in pursuing a career in education. She said her interest in teaching began early, noting that she visited a teacher supply store so frequently as a child that her mother established a monthly spending limit. Outside the classroom, Miller said she spends her time reading and attending book conferences.
