Englewood Elementary Alumna Returns as Kindergarten Teacher

Veronica Grannan, a kindergarten teacher at Englewood Elementary School in Sarasota County, was recognized this week as part of the district's Teacher Tuesday series. Grannan is a former student of the same school where she now teaches.

Prior to becoming a full-time teacher, Grannan worked in several roles involving children and families, including positions as a camp counselor, social worker, preschool director, and volunteer. She currently sponsors the school's Everglades Ambassadors Club, a student program focused on Florida's natural resources and environmental conservation.

Grannan said teaching kindergarten allows her to experience life through the perspective of a five-year-old, describing the classroom as a place filled with wonder and possibility. Outside of school, she spends time biking, hiking, and photographing nature.
